Stories to tell ...

"Would you like to include personally written vows?" is a question often followed by nervous laughter from my couples. I think this is because people haven't really thought about what they would like to say, and the thought of pouring their heart out in front of an audience is daunting to say the least. I really love when people take the time to write their own vows, and when they keep them secret from one another until the ceremony. Generally, your vows are the only part of the ceremony which you say to one another, and it is beautiful to see when your loved one is hearing them for the first time.

These guys had the best vows - sweet, funny and heartfelt. Captured by the fabulous Jack from Don't Say Cheese Photography

  • Write from the heart. Forget that anyone else will even hear your vows. Think about your partner and what you would like to say to them on this special day. Pretend that you are writing to them in a letter.
  • Have a brainstorm together. Have a chat with your partner about the types of things you might like to say in your vows - comedy vs tear jerker, essay vs a few short points etc
  • Be Yourself. Don't be constrained by what you think people expect. If you are super funny, be funny. If you wear your heart on your sleeve then share that with your love. Unless you walk around spouting prose and 'how I love thee' then leave the Shakespeare out.
  • If you are stuck for ideas start Googling. Look for inspiration in favourite poems, song lyrics, fave movies.
  • Have fun! I have seen people promise all manner of things in their vows :) If they represent you and your relationship your love will adore them. Happy Writing xx

I'm not really sure where to start today. Handsome Groom surprising all of the guests by arriving by helicopter - check. Beautiful Bride getting ready at the amazing Maleny Manor - check. Adoring family and friends ready to celebrate a new marriage - check.
I think what had me smiling all the way home was just how fabulously nice Brendon & Adele are, how perfectly suited they are and how happy they were on their wedding day. Great vibes :)

Very cool entrance!

Very proud Dad

Magical pics taken by Lorinda at Incite Photographics.
A lovely lady to spend the afternoon with, and a great photographer!

What an amazing celebration of love and family. Alex and Jay's grandmas walked down the aisle before the girls, which was priceless. This beautiful couple were in their own little bubble the entire ceremony and clearly so in love. Awesome day at Hillstone, St Lucia!

So beautiful!

Pics by the lovely Laura J. Norris Photography (who also happens to be the Groom's very talented sister!)

Emma & Hugo - A couple with an amazing sense of humor, individualism and love for each other (a celebrant's dream couple!). We even got to seal the marriage certificate with a wax seal (quite a feat in very windy conditions!). Their wedding day was celebrated at the beautiful Sirromet Winery with a fabulous bunch of family and friends.
For the whole story, head over to Ben Clark Photography. Ben took some a-maz-ing pics and was a champion to work with - I highly recommend!

Love this pic!

Cheeky :)

Highlights from Erika and Sean's beautiful wedding. So much love. So much emotion. Cutest kids ever.

This was a special one - the wedding of a beautiful girl who I have known since we were kids. The sun was shining, the smiles were even brighter and Brett and Amy were surrounded by their loved ones and gorgeous daughter.
Happy Days!!

Look at that dress!!

Being heckled by the Bride :)

Stunning venue at Noosa Springs

Highlights video from the very clever Playback Studios, who not only make beautiful films but are cool guys to hang out with! I'm not sure I'll ever get used to the sound of my voice on video though!

Still images captured by Nicola Lemmon Photography (who is also super talented and lovely). I'm so lucky to get to work with so many awesome professionals :)

I just can't help sharing some images from one of my fun & funky couples. The ceremony + reception was at the uber cool Cloudland in Fortitude Valley. Thanks to the awesomely talented Romana Saeheng Photography & Design for the amazing photos.

Just Married ...

Feels like Alice in Wonderland :)

Inner city fun!

Late last year I had the priveledge of marrying one of my school friends and his stunning fiance. It was the most perfect coastal hinterland wedding, with views stretching from the mountains all the way to the sea.
Special thanks to Tanya from Chesterton Smith Photography, who took so many beautiful photos I'm struggling not to put them all in.

While flower girls and little ring bearers can be utterly adorable, if you don't have any littlies who spring to mind, why not have fun with this role :)

Every single wedding that I am lucky enough to witness has it's special moments though sometimes I come away with an extra big feeling of 'this is so right-ness'. Kathryn and Dave really are one soul in two bodies, and sooo much fun! The wedding planning started with a pair of red Louboutins and culminated in a gorgeous country wedding, complete with sunset and clear skies, and an adorable beagle named Bentley. I got to take a spin around the block in a 1962 white Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II last night. Such a cool car, I could certainly get used to traveling like that... a personal driver not too shabby either! Thanks David from Somerton Limousines

Had a styled shoot at the Sheraton Mirage with the wonderful team from My Bridal Centre. Not every day I get to be part of a styled shoot in such a glitzy place!

Thanks especially to Qualis Photography for the beautiful picture. Check out the gallery for more stunning pictures.

A gorgeous day on the Gold Coast.

What a pleasure it was to meet, work with, and marry Katie and Grant. Seven years to the day from when they met this awesome couple exchanged vows at the historic Branell Homestead in Laidley. A perfect blend of RM's and lace, sunshine and smiles. Not to mention the cutest flower girls on the planet! Pics by Kath Scott Photography (Kath is arguably one of the nicest people you could meet and an awesome photographer to spend the day with!)

Of course, being a marriage celebrant in Brisbane doesn't mean I don't travel :o)

So, give me a call today, I'd love to hear from you!

So much fun today at the Ideal Bride Expo with the lovely ladies from My Bridal Centre. Brisbane City Hall came up a treat thanks to the stage decorations by White Lace & Promises and our stand looked fabulous. Lots of goodies and gift bags given out to couples, and lots of cake 'tested' by us!
